Forgive Me, Lord

            Oh, my God, I am so very sorry that I have offended thee with my sins, and I am sore afraid that I’ve lost my reward in heaven, and will suffer in hell forever for what I’ve done… my sins and my transgressions. I’ve tried to follow you, Lord, but the path you walk is narrow and steep, and it seems that the devil is my shadow, and he is always kicking my feet out from under me. Lord, you walk too fast, or I walk too slowly; I can’t keep up. In my walk through this life, Lord, I’ve loved with an open heart, and I’ve studied and worked all my life for what I had. I tried to be a friend to all who would have me. In the war,^[1] I suffered terrible heart-pangs for the lives that were lost – especially those innocent children – and there was nothing that I could do. There were times that I cursed you, and there was a time that I did not believe in you – especially when you took Barbara^[2] and later, my best friend Steven^[3]. You let that little Vietnamese boy bleed to death in my arms,^[4] and let drug dealers kill my friend Running Wolf.^[5] You took my father, my step-father, and both my in-laws. You took my baby who died before he was born, and the Devil has set my friends and those who I love dearly against me. All I ever had, and all I ever loved in this world is gone – except my mother and brother; and what is left of my small immediate family. I can’t travel this road anymore, Lord. Please forgive me, for I am culpable for your death on the cross. And now, Lord, as I’ve wounded you and cut you to the quick, I must ask you to carry me, for I can no longer walk without you. Take me to heaven, Lord; take me to see my Father.

            "He was condemned for my sins in which He had no part, in order that I could be justified in His righteousness to which I had no right. He suffered the death that was justly mine, in order that I could have the eternal life that is His".^[6]

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved".^[7]

"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned".^[8]

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved".^[9]

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house".^[10]

"….if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved".^[11]

"….work out your own salvation with fear and trembling".^[12]

"Jesus answered and said unto him,^[13] Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God".^[14]
